About Care On Call Health Care Ltd

Support built around people, their choices and the lives they want to continue living.

Care On Call Health Care Ltd is a family-run organisation based in Hertfordshire. We built Care On Call around a simple purpose: to provide dependable support in a way that respects each person’s independence, circumstances and right to remain involved in the decisions that affect their life.

For us, support begins with understanding the person — not simply the task that needs doing.

Why Care On Call Exists

Care On Call Health Care Ltd was founded by Ian Chikaviro from a combination of professional experience and personal understanding. Through his work in health and social care, Ian saw how important the quality of everyday support can be. Reliable help can make the difference between someone feeling that life is being managed for them and feeling that they are still in control of it.

His understanding is also personal. Ian has experienced significant health challenges himself and knows what it feels like when circumstances affect your independence and you have to rely on other people for help. Receiving support gave him an appreciation of something that can easily be overlooked: asking for help is not always easy.

The way that help is offered matters. People should still feel listened to. They should still have choices. They should still be treated as the person they have always been rather than defined by the circumstances that have led them to need support.

That understanding became part of the foundation of Care On Call. The organisation was built to combine professional standards with a personal, respectful way of working — providing support that helps people continue living their lives rather than taking control of those lives away from them.

What We Are Here to Do

Our purpose is to help people remain independent, connected and involved in everyday life through support that respects their choices, routines and individuality. We want people and families who approach Care On Call to feel listened to, properly informed and confident about the support they receive. That means being approachable, communicating clearly and never losing sight of the individual behind every enquiry, visit or conversation.

The Principles Behind Care On Call

Our values matter because they influence the way we work.

Dignity and Respect
We listen to people, respect their choices and recognise that needing support should never mean losing control over everyday decisions.

Independence
Good support should encourage people to continue doing what they can for themselves. Our role is to assist where support is useful, not take over unnecessarily.

Reliability
People should be able to depend on what has been agreed. That means communicating clearly, being responsible and dealing with concerns rather than avoiding them.

Compassion
We understand that accepting help may be unfamiliar or difficult. We approach people with patience, understanding and without judgement.

The Person Behind Care On Call.

Ian Chikaviro Founder and Director

Care On Call is led by Ian Chikaviro, whose background combines practical experience in health and social care with formal leadership and management training.

Ian holds Level 5 qualifications in Leadership and Management for Adult Care and Health and Social Care Management, together with the Care Certificate.

His continuing professional development includes safeguarding and mental capacity, care planning and record keeping, supervision and appraisal, complaints management and approaches to enabling care.

Ian remains directly involved in the standards, governance and direction of Care On Call.

For Ian, leading the organisation carries a clear responsibility: people who place their trust in Care On Call should be treated with competence, respect and clear communication.

Trust should be supported by more than words. At Care On Call, our approach is backed by clear systems for recruitment, safeguarding, staff development, supervision, risk management, record keeping, complaints, incident management and quality assurance.

We take our responsibilities seriously and believe people should receive clear, accurate information about the support we provide and the standards they can expect from us.

We are equally committed to being open about what we can and cannot provide. We would rather give someone a straightforward answer than make a promise we cannot responsibly keep.

That approach helps us provide support with professionalism, accountability and respect — and gives the people who choose Care On Call confidence in the organisation behind the service.

Why Local Matters

Personal & Direct Communication

You can speak to people who know the organisation and understand your support arrangements, rather than feeling passed around a distant call centre.

Support That Respects Your Routine

We take time to understand how you prefer to live your everyday life, so support can fit around your routines, choices and priorities.

Local Knowledge

Knowing the local area helps us understand nearby amenities, transport, community activities and other resources that can help people remain connected.

Independence & Choice

Our approach is to support people to continue making their own decisions and doing as much as possible for themselves.

Staying Connected to Your Community

Local support can help people remain involved with familiar places, activities, friends, family and community life.

Greater Accountability

As a local, family-run organisation, our reputation matters. We want people to know who they are dealing with, feel comfortable raising questions and receive clear answers when something needs attention.

For us, being local is not simply about geography. It is about being accessible, accountable and connected to the communities we serve.
